2019 @ Fancy Fab Boutique!
Wow! Where did 2018 go? We hope you all had a wonderful year and holiday season!
We are BACK after taking a couple months off to unwind and reflect on everything over the past year.
In March of 2018 we signed a shorter lease at a new location in Minneapolis. We were proud to join the uptown neighborhood filled with so many quaint shops and eateries. When we opened our doors in April, we turned our downtown Chaska shop into an occasional shop, which mean't we would only be open a few days a month. That was such a fantastic thing, yet it would get so busy during our open times, we quickly outgrew our downtown Chaska location. While remaining optimistic of finding a bigger, historic location, we didn't find one in time for our lease to be up. After a few amazing years downtown, we closed our Chaska location at the end of September.
Meanwhile, our Minneapolis location was open a few days a week and such a success for us. The outpouring support from those who traveled from the southwest metro, to those in the neighborhood popping in to welcome us to the place they call home, was tremendous! Nearing fall 2018 the city ended up passing a change to our front street that would soon turn it into driving/biking only, leaving us with little to no parking at all around our building. Making it really hard for those traveling from afar to shop with us. After that change happened, it left us with another tough decision on whether or not to renew the lease that was coming up quickly in the spring of 2019 at our uptown Minneapolis location.
With a busy year at both of the shops, I decided to take some time away during the holidays. With the busy season of November and December and many calls and messages asking when we would be open (I did my best to respond to everyone promptly) I decided it would be best to take that time for family, friends, and most importantly to ensure the safety of our baby that will be born spring 2019. It also gave me time to plan for this upcoming 2019 year at Fancy Fab Boutique.
I have always been one to follow this verse. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 and after much consideration, my husband and I gave our notice over the holidays to not renew our uptown Minneapolis lease this spring.
So what are we doing next?
Over the next couple of months we will be open certain days of the month (Still TBD) at our Minneapolis location to shop our Closeout SALE. When we are open, we will be offering 50%-75% off all remaining inventory in the shop, with all sales final. Our website was completely revamped at the beginning of 2018 to make your shopping experience fast and convenient. So far the feedback we have received for our website has been good and after we close our doors with our brick and mortar, our focus will be on our online shop!! <3
Having started Fancy Fab Boutique as an online shop prior to opening our brick and mortars, I am looking forward to continuing on this journey with the online shop + blogging + pop-up events. Although there is also much sadness with not having a brick and mortar where I can meet new faces + see all those regular faces (which I know will be tough) it's knowing this is not the end! If and when another location comes about that feels right, you never know......we may just open another brick and mortar again!! Until then, I am overjoyed to be able to get ready for the many changes coming up for our family outside of the shop and to take on the greatest role of all "MOM".

Of course these blog posts bring tears rolling down my cheeks as always, but this one is also bringing smiles. Smiles for a new year and new changes. Smiles, because it's not the end. Smiles for having met so many amazing people through the brick and mortars. From other business owners, to those who were part of the FAB team, to YOU...the SHOPPERS! Smiles for all the support and encouragement we have received throughout all the years. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart!
